Salem is ‘wanted’ in a fake passport case registered with Lucknow CBI. Salem was extradited in 2005 to stand trial in three cases in Mumbai.

The case registered in Lucknow against Salem is that he managed to get fake passports and fled the country in 1993.

In 2008, Salem had moved a petition in the Bombay High court that despite transfer warrants he had not been produced in the Lucknow court, thereby delaying the trial.

The court, however, disposed of the petition after the government told the court that Salem would be allowed to attend trials with the TADA court’s permission.
