Saluting the chefs

On Sunday night, the Capital played host to the 7th International Chef Awards. The glitzy ceremony, held at The Ashok Hotel, was organised by the PHD Chamber & Indian Culinary Forum (ICF) along with Indian Federation of Culinary Associations and HT City, to honour the best in the business of food.
Awards were handed out in 14 different categories and 13 nominated chefs took to the ramp to take part in a fashion show at the venue. The chefs wore aprons and jackets created specially for the event by designers such as Nida Mahmood, Nikhita Tandon, Jenjum and Samant Chauhan.
Chef Vikram Khatri of ai, walked away with the coveted Chef of the Year award. “I had butterflies in my stomach before the awards. I wanted to win, but I knew the other nominees were equally deserving. In fact, I expected Chef Achal Aggarwal, who is also a close friend, to win. But, I’m equally happy that I won,” he said.
