Pakistan Test off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq will appear before a disciplinary committee for allegedly berating coach Javed Miandad and manager Haroon Rasheed, an official of the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Friday.

The 27-year-old off-spinner's alleged comments were made in telephone calls with Miandad and Rasheed after Pakistan's cricket selectors dropped him from the ongoing two-Test series against South Africa.

"It's a serious matter and Saqlain (Mushtaq) has been asked to appear before the disciplinary committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board on Oct. 29," said chief executive PCB Ramiz Raja.

"We will take a lenient view if he (Saqlain) apologizes keeping in mind his services for the Pakistan cricket," Raja said.

It wasn't clear what punishment Mushtaq faces. Mushtaq, who also plays for Surrey in the English county championship, has taken 207 wickets in 48 Tests. His 169 one-day internationals have fetched the off-spinner 288 wickets with an impressive average of 21.79.

He last played a Test match last month against Bangladesh at Multan, which Pakistan won by one wicket.
