One in five of the 1,000 people questioned named the 1965 number one single as their favourite, knocking Brown Sugar into second place.

Fans also said the rock group's 1971 album Sticky Fingers was their best, reports BBC.

Third place was taken by Jumpin' Jack Flash, edging out Paint It Black, which came in fourth.

Wild Horses and Sympathy For The Devil together shared the fifth position in the poll conducted by American Express.
