SC fix date to hear OBC reservations challenge

The Supreme Court on Monday fixed March 7 to hear the petitions challenging the Centre?s notification providing for 27.5 per cent reservation to OBCs, reports Satya Prakash.

The Supreme Court on Monday fixed March 7 to hear the petitions challenging the Centre’s notification providing for 27.5 per cent reservation to OBCs in government-run educational institutions from the coming academic session.

A Bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat directed the parties to complete the pleadings before the next date when the applications seeking stay on the notification would also be taken up for hearing.

The resident Doctors Association, Youth for Equality and some other organisations have challenged the Government’s decision as also the law passed by Parliament in the last session in this regard.
