SC rejects Zaheera's plea on sentence

The Best Bakery case key witness was seeking modification of the verdict sentencing her to one year in jail.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the plea of the Best Bakery case key witness Zaheera Sheikh.

She can file a petition seeking a review of the order, the apex court said.

Zaheera was seeking modification of the verdict sentencing her to one-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for contempt of court.

A Bench comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice HK Sema said there was no merit in the application.
