A vacation bench comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice Lokweshwar Singh Panta refused to give urgent hearing saying that the film was released after clearance from the Censor Board.

"When the Censor Board and government has cleared the screening of the film what was the objection," the Bench asked the petitioner, who claimed himself to be the member of Delhi-based Cathedral Church.

The petition filed by Mathews sought stopping the screening of the film, based on a controversial novel Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, on the ground that it hurt the sentiments of the Christians.

The film has already been banned in Punjab and Nagaland.
