School of Design, BTech course at DU

Delhi University, which is working towards major reforms, proposes to introduce a two-year BTech course after a Bachelors in Science and also a School of Design, its vice-chancellor Deepak Pental said on Tuesday.

Delhi University, which is working towards major reforms, proposes to introduce a two-year BTech course after a Bachelors in Science and also a School of Design, its vice-chancellor Deepak Pental said on Tuesday.

The course would help in research and more creativity in the field of science, he said. Welcoming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function held to mark the golden jubilee of the Delhi School of Economics, the VC also sought the PM's intervention to expedite the one time grant the university had asked for from the Union HRD Ministry.

The package includes funds for upgrading basic infrastructure like laboratories, networking the library with other universities and setting up facilities for e-learning. Pental also suggested that DU be allowed the use of 68 acres of land near the university Metro station. The PM assured university officials he would ensure that some of their "dreams get realised."
