The computer equipment was stolen nearly three years ago. In July 2003, the computer parts were stolen from the Anusuchit Jati/Janjati Kalyan (AJK) branch of the headquarters.

The theft had come to light when the computer engineer came for repair and found that equipment including hard disk, motherboard and other parts were missing.

Earlier also, thieves have chopped off sandal trees in PHQ and taken away the wood. Meanwhile, officials investigating the case claimed that they have identified the spot from where thieves managed to sneak into the State police’s citadel. The involvement of some security personnel is also not ruled out.

Five personnel were suspended for laxity on Friday itself. The incident occurred on Thursday night and was discovered the next morning.
