A close vigil is being kept across sensitive areas in the city and across Maharashtra, following the Union home ministry instructions, to look out for possible trouble makers.

The state is particularly on alert because of the similarity in the manner in which Afzal Guru and Mohamed Ajmal Amir Kasab, one of the LeT operatives convicted for 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, was hanged.

Kasab like Guru was hanged in complete secrecy.

The sensitivity attached to the hanging of Guru would ensure that alert would remain for a few more days.

Sadanand Date, joint commissioner of police (law and order) said, “We have to be on vigil 24X7, and instructions have been given to keep a close eye on any development.”
