As part of enhanced security arrangements, additional Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were also deployed, airport officials said on Sunday.
"Visitors entry at the domestic and international terminals have been banned from Saturday till January 31," the sources said.
All vehicles entering the airport were thoroughly checked and were not allowed to park at departure lounges for more than two minutes.
Police sources said security had been beefed up at railway stations, bus terminus and places where public gather in large numbers.
