Additional police force has been deployed around religious places, following rush of devotees in the month of Saawan. Railway and bus stations are also being monitored consistently by the police. All the SPs and COs have been directed by SSP PC Meena to conduct surprise checking.

However, the SSP admitted that it was not possible to keep a close vigil on every citizen, though security had been tightened at all major installations and religious places on Wednesday. Administrative officials conducted a high level meeting and reviewed the security scenario in the city.

Circle officers along with assistant city magistrates (ACMs) have been ordered by higher authorities to conduct surprise checking of hotels, lodges and dharmshalas of the city. On Wednesday, COs along with ACMs were seen taking rounds of sensitive areas of the city.

Besides, office-goers took ample precautions and before sitting on a rickshaw or in tempos they checked it thoroughly for anything suspicious.

Meanwhile, SSP PC Meena has urged the people of the city to be cautious and to inform the police if they discover anything objectionable. “It is a collective responsibility of all of us to defeat terrorism in the country. The police are doing their job but at the same time I request the people here to help the police if they find anything objectionable or see any suspicious person staying anywhere or roaming here in the city.”
