"Apart from the routine security checks, we have taken additional precautions to thwart possible terror strikes," Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police B Prasada Rao told PTI.

"As part of security measures, we have deployed sufficient police force in various parts of the city. We have asked the public to be more alert if they come across any abandoned items in markets and other public places," he said.

Rao said security agencies were carrying out special checks in sensitive places. Besides they were in coordination with railway police to undertake continuous security checks at railway stations and trains.

Replying to a query on whether Centre has issued any terror alert for the city, Prasada Rao said, "routine alerts have been issued and as per security has been further beefed up."
