Sehwag was hit on his right forearm as he tried to play defensively and walked off grimacing in pain.

Team manager Gautam Dasgupta said the batsman has suffered "soft tissue injury" and was unlikely to take any further part in the game.

Both India and South Africa have already qualified for Sunday's final.

"There is no fracture," he said. "But doctors have advised him 48 hours rest."

Sehwag was batting on 14 at the time of his injury with India 32 for one after electing to bat.
