ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING and Coordination Organisation (EPCO) is organising a two-day national seminar on `natural resource management for sustainable development’ from January 16 at the auditorium of the Regional Museum of Natural History.
About 175 eminent academicians, researchers, policy planners, professionals, environmental managers and NGOs have consented to participate in the seminar.
A total 125 research papers have been received from senior scientists from Union Environment and Forest Ministry, Central Pollution Control Board, pollution control boards of various States, engineering colleges, universities, the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), various survey organisations of the Government of India, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, WWF-India and others.
The research papers cover themes like institution and environmental governance, international commitment vis-à-vis national responsibilities, eco-analysis of land and people, community participation in natural resource management, clean development mechanism (CDM) and green procurement, environment impact assessment of development activities and others.
The seminar would be providing a forum for different stakeholders to discuss the modalities of implementation of the draft of National Environmental Policy issued by Government of India in October 2004.
The registration for the seminar would commence at 9.30 am on January 16 at the venue.
