Shiv Sena in an editorial in its party mouthpeice Saamana has said that the BJP-Sena alliance in Maharashtra needs to take a lesson from the results of the Bihar Karnataka bypolls and get their act together if they want to win Maharashtra in the upcoming state polls. It also said that people voted for Prime Minister Modi in large numbers for the centre but the political equations in the state are different, which the by-poll result has reflected.

The views in the editorial are seen as those of Sena party chief Uddhav Thackeray.

" We will have to accept that the combination of Laloo (Yadav) and Nitish Kumar has won 6 seats (of the 10). Voters have shown that a Loksabha poll is different from a state poll and we need to take this trend seriously," Thackeray warned. He added that Sena-BJP alliance will need to pull up their socks and work hard and not depend on a wave to win. "People certainly want a change un Maharashtra. But one cant depend on a wave to win, "he said.
