Sensex up 19.88 points in early trade

Metal, refinery, auto and PSU shares attract some buying interest while banking stocks come under pressure.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark, Sensex, on Thursday witnessed steady trend in lacklustre activity during morning trading while investors shifted their attention to small cap and mid cap stocks.

The Sensex opened higher at 12,387.89 and later moved in a small range of 12,389.88 and 12,315.02 before being quoted at 12,373.37 at 10.20 am, up by 19.88 points over yesterday's close of 12,353.49.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) S&P CNX Nifty edged up by 8.90 points to 3,567.50 from previous close of 3,558.55.

Metal, refinery, Auto and PSU shares attracted some buying interest while Banking stocks came under pressure due to profit booking by investors.
