Sensex up 81 points in early trade

Stock brokers say better than expected earnings posted by TCS buoyed the trading sentiments in the morning.

The stock markets opened firm with the benchmark Sensex rising by over 81 points in early trading on Tuesday on the back of good performance of IT major Tata Consultancy Services in the third quarter result.

The BSE-30 share index, Sensex, which had been rising in the past three straight sessions, gathered another 81.46 points to hit an intra-day record high of 14,211.10 points in the first 10 minutes of trading.

Similarly, on the wide-based National Stock Exchange, Nifty index climbed by 29.05 points at 4,107.45.

Stock brokers said better than expected earnings posted by Tata Consultancy Services buoyed the trading sentiments on Tuesday.

Tata Consultancy Services stocks soared to Rs 1399 from previous closing of Rs 1327.90.

Most of index-related stocks also continued their upward march on sustained buying by funds, lifting the Sensex to new highs.
