The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex surged by 75 points in early trading on Monday on sustained buying by funds in select segments.

The 30-share sensitive index, which had gained 447 points in the previous trading session, opened 75.70 points higher at 10,684.95 points in the first five minutes of trading.
Similarly, the second wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 25.45 points at 3153.65 points.
The major support to the market came from sectors like steel, cement, IT and banking.
