CHIEF SECRETARY Rakesh Sahni has asked his colleague officers to set a realistic target that can be achieved within the limit of the budgetary allocation.
In his first letter to the principal secretaries and secretaries as the Chief Secretary, Sahni directed them to set vision,
objectives and goals of their respective departments and send the documents concerned by February 20. He added that monitoring of the goals fixed by all departments would be undertaken on a monthly basis. However, some extra time could be given in cases where response time is more. Quarterly review is also possible.
Following the directive, senior officers in various departments have started repackaging of their objectives and goals. However, some of them termed it as a futile exercise. A senior officer pointed out that all departments have recently apprised the State Government of their goals and objectives ahead of preparation for the annual plan outlay.
Asking the colleagues to be specific on goals, the Chief Secretary said in case of any doubt in preparing document, officers could contact him individually.
