The notification issued on May 1 says sanction is hereby accorded to the entrusting of case FIR No 20/2006 registered at Police station Shaheed Gunj under section 67 of Immoral Trafficking Act to the CBI for investigations.
The sanction will be scrutinised by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) before it issues a notification to CBI to take up the matter for investigations.
The state police has already arrested Sabina, the alleged lynchpin in the sex racket, along with two more people while two others arrested in the case were out on bail.
The fight between two Senior Superintendent's of Police of two different districts is understood to be the reason the scandal has come out in the open.
Names of two politicians, who were ministers in the previous PDP-led coalition ministry, a Deputy Inspector General of a central paramilitary force and some senior policemen are understood to have figured in the scandal.
