'My hubby has had sex with men'
1. I am 24-year-old. I've been with my husband since we were 18. In January 2005, my husband told me he is bisexual. I know he's had sex with men. But I think he is gay. May be he doesn't want to hurt me by admitting it. He has told me that he likes both men and women, but sometimes he won't touch me when I want to be touched. I tried talking to him but he avoids the topic altogether. What do I do now?
Reply From Dr. Prem Lata Chawla: How come you need some help now after six long years of marriage? You should have asked for help when your husband confided that he is bisexual, or the day you realized he is having sex with men or the day you became sure that he is gay and he pretends to be bisexual. What is there for him to talk to you? You have managed your life for six years and you are perfectly capable of doing it in future. You have not said a word as to what held the marriage together for so long. Depending on the strength of this bond and the binding issues you can take a decision about your own future and the course of this marriage.
'I want to marry my cousin'
2. I am a 28-year-old man in love with my cousin. We want to get married. But I have heard that it's unnatural sex for a boy and girl whose mothers are sisters. Is this true? Will we face any problem in our reproduction, as our mothers are sisters? Please help.
Reply From Dr. Prem Lata Chawla: There are greater chances of inheriting recessive genetic disorders in marriages amongst cousins or closely related individuals. These diseases are certain forms of mental retardation, muscular dystrophies and other neurological disorders. It is for this reason the practice of marriages within families is being given up in almost all the communities. I do not know what 'Nadi' is as it is some non-medical word of some local language and it conveys nothing to me.
