Shahabuddin, who was charged with the sale and purchase of illegal weapons, was granted bail by Justice Mridula Mishra.

Justice Mishra accepted Shahabuddin's counsel YV Giri's plea that his client had not visited Siwan for the past 2-3 years and linking him with deeds of any of his supporters was unjustified.

Government Advocate S Dayal opposed the bail arguing that Shahabuddin had a criminal background and he could influence the witnesses if granted bail.

Shahabuddin, who was arrested in Delhi last November in connection with eight pending non-bailable warrants of arrest, is currently lodged at Bhagalpur jail.
