BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, MP, has threatened to petition the privilege committee of parliament against the Gaya administration, for stopping him from visiting the Mahabodhi Temple on the pretext of the visit by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union Home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday.

Informing that his visit to the temple yesterday was made available to Gaya district administration well in advance, Hussain said the Gaya district administration allowed him inside the Mahabodhi premises only after the visit of Gandhi and Shinde was over, without communicating the decision to him in advance.

“I am at a loss, why I was stopped. I too am a member of parliament just like Gandhi”, Hussain said.

He alleged that the state government does not believe in giving due respect to the representatives of the people, adding, however, that the BJP did not want politics on the issue of blasts and expected a through probe to lay bare the plot.
