Maria Sharapova won her opening match at the French Open by beating Mirjana Lucic of Croatia 6-3, 6-0 on Tuesday.
The seventh-seeded Russian did not allow a break point and took her opponent's serve five times.
Sharapova is bidding to complete a career Grand Slam after winning Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006 and the Australian Open in 2008.
