Wife of a khoya seller, Geeta has a daughter and she wishes to bring up the child as her own.

Doctor V N Tripathi, who is attending the child, named him Kabir because according to him, Kabir was also brought up by Neeru and Neema in the same way. He said that the child would be sent to a reputed orphanage after his recovery.

On her part, Geeta has not lost any hope and she submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate, but there was no hearing of her case yet.

The infant was found lying in the garbages near the OPD gate of a city hospital on September 4. Though people stopped to have a look at the child but it was Geeta who took the child and admitted him to the children ward. After admitting him, she went to ward no-4 to attend her dying father. After the death of her father, she went to Dr Tripathi to get back the child, but the hospital authorities refused to hand him over possibly seeing her poor financial condition.

According to Dr Tripathi, the child is very small and devoid of proper care of mother. At present he needs proper care and when he gets well, he will be sent to a city orphanage.

Whatever may be the legal procedures but the truth is that Geeta wants to adopt the child on any terms and conditions.

When asked about her financial condition, she said she had 2 bighas of land in her village and was ready to adopt the child.
