Shivaji's descendant joins Congress in Mumbai

Bhosle, a former minister of state in the previous Sena-BJP government in the state, was earlier in the BJP.

Udayanraje Bhosle, 13th descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on Wednesday joined the Congress.

He was welcomed into the party fold by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and MPCC President Prabha Rau, at a function at the party office Gandhi Bhawan in south Mumbai.

Bhosle, a former minister of state in the previous Sena-BJP government in the state, was earlier in the BJP.

He had recently met Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Former senior police official TK Chaudhury, who was earlier in Samajwadi Party, also joined Congress on the occasion.
