The incident took place at Atit village, on the Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway when Bhosale was marching towards Koynanagar hydro power stations demanding free power. Satara district Superintendent Prakash Mutyal said a group of around 100 people had obstructed traffic despite prohibitory orders.
According to eyewitnesses, traffic on the highway was jammed for over an hour. Three policemen were injured in stone pelting, Mutyal said. Bhosale was arrested and produced before Satara court and was later released on bail.
His arrest assumes significance as he had declared his intention to contest election from Satara Lok Sabha constituency. Former minister of state for revenue of the saffron alliance, Udayanraje was also arrested in a murder case but was acquitted by the court.
