Terming the transfer an insult to the people of Indore he urged both the BJP and Congress to come together on a common platform and call for a bandh to protest the transfer.
The Congressman further called for convening a special meeting of the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) general council to protest Narhari’s ouster and, based on a majority vote, send a proposal to the State Government to revoke the decision. In a statement issued here Gagre termed Narhari an “upright and industrious” official who sincerely strove to improve the Corporation’s fiscal condition and uncovered may scams during his tenure.
Narhari’s concerted drive against corrupt practices worried PWD Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya who mounted pressure on the Chief Minister to transfer him and eventually succeeded, he added.
Instead of supporting an honest officer who brought to fruition key infrastructure development schemes saffron corporators loyal to Vijayvargiya fought him tooth and nail.
This hypocritical attitude reflects the moral bankruptcy of the BJP which never tires of making claims towards honesty and values, the statement concluded.
