Shops closed in SP strongholds

ESTABLISHMENTS, WHICH remained closed included retail and wholesale markets in support of the bandh call today. The Kirana Market of Nayaganj, bullion market on Birhana Road and at Chowk, edible oil market at Halsi Road, wholesale markets at Collectorganj and Naubasta, textile markets at Naughara, Generalganj and Kahukothi, Iron and Steel market also remained close in support of the bandh call given by the Vyapar Mandal.

The Kirana Market of Nayaganj, bullion market on Birhana Road and at Chowk, edible oil market at Halsi Road, wholesale markets at Collectorganj and Naubasta, textile markets at Naughara, Generalganj and Kahukothi, Iron and Steel market also remained close in support of the bandh call given by the Vyapar Mandal. Interestingly, markets having strong presence of the SP, also remained close in protest against the killing of traders at Yashodanagar.

SP leader Neeraj Chaturvedi’s strong hold Halsi Road market of sanitary and building materials also remained close. Commercial markets said to have dominance of the Samajwadi Party leader Surender Mohan Agarwal also remained close.

Shops at Mall Road including ‘Mega Mall’ remained close. Besides, Naveen Market and Som Datt Plaza also wore a deserted look. Shops at PPN Market, P Road, Gumti, Naya Ganj, Birhana Road, Lal Bangla, Meston Road, Latouche Road, Shivala, Collectorganj and Colonelganj also remained close. Keeping in view large -scale violence in south city on Saturday in protest against the killing of bullion traders, a large contingent of police force was deployed.
