Shots fired at Indian post near LoC: Army

A few rounds were fired at an Indian border post near the LoC in J&K's Poonch sector.

The Army on Saturday said a few rounds were fired at an Indian border post near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector recently and the matter was taken up with Pakistani authorities.

At a flag meeting held after the incident, Pakistan denied any firing from their side on the Indian post or picket.

They told their Indian counterparts that militants might have carried out the attack at the border post, Col DK Badola, a spokesman of 16 Army Corps, reporters.

Maintaining the border truce with Islamabad was holding, he said "there was no attack by Pakistani troops on forward Indian posts along LoC in J&K."

A few rounds were fired at an Indian post near LoC in Poonch on the intervening night of July 27-28," Col Badola said adding there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the incident.

At the flag meeting, Indian authorities told their Pakistani counterparts to keep a vigil on movement of militants near the LoC, he said.

Col Badola said the Indo-Pak border truce was holding for the past 31 months and there was no ceasefire violation from either side.

He said vigilance had been mounted in view of increased movement of militants near LoC.
