SCHOLARSHIPS: The SPICMACAY Scholarship Scheme aims at exposing students to the uniqueness of the ancient Guru-Shishya traditions.
The scholarship helps students to stay for a month with Gurus, who have dedicated their lives to arts or social causes. Gurus come from the field of literature, religion, Yoga, traditional medicine, classical arts and social work.
Living with them could start off a journey of discovery for the students.
Scholarships are offered once a year during summer vacations in the months of May/June/July. The participants are offered some time away from their regular routine to experience another way of life, focused on voluntary work, dedication, simplicity and an inward journey.
This year, the following Gurus, to name some of the prominent ones, have offered to take the students under the Gurukul scholarship: The Dalai Lama Monastery at Dharmashala, Ustad Fariduddin Dagar - Dhrupad style (classical music) at Mumbai, Habib Tanveer - Theatre at Bhopal, Anjolie Ela Menon - Painting, Delhi and Aruna Roy - Writer, Delhi.
