The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Centre to furnish copies of the purported ruling of the Supreme Court and also that of a division bench of the High Court upholding the citizenship of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The special bench passed the directive on a petition filed by Rashtriya Mukti Morcha President Ravindra Kumar challenging the citizenship of Sonia Gandhi and her right to hold any constitutional post in the country.

In his brief intervention, the Additional Solicitor- General (ASG) Gopal Subramaniam sought quashing of the petition on the ground that it was motivated and had no relevance since a division bench of the High Court and later, the apex court, had both upheld Gandhi's citizenship.

The ASG alleged that the petitioner, despite the earlier petitions being dismissed, had once again approached the High Court with a vested interest and with the intention to embarrass the government.

At this stage, the bench asked the ASG to furnish before it the relevant rulings of the Supreme Court and the division bench, and posted the matter for further hearing on March 8.
