Solid colours with high bling like yellow, blue, orange, baby pink were completely out and replaced with a monochromatic colour palate. Shades of oak, white and cedar were out too, while dark colours especially walnut became a hot favourite.

All rough materials like jute and raffia gave way to chenille and velvet. From raw silk, the trend moved to satin.

Minimalist interior that was once dominant was replaced with a step higher ambience reflecting thorough detail and design. n Heavy carvings and dust prone engraved furniture became a passe.

Solid coloured walls were completely out and in came neutral walls with wallpaper and special wall effect (hand made).

Floral upholstered furniture was marked as ‘unwanted’ in 2009. Usage of stone textures and stone as well was out.

Duco in furniture had no place in 2009 and stained wood polishes and metallic finishes became the trendsetters of the year. Chinese furniture also got a thumbs-down.

Wrought iron, bean bags and coloured furniture got rated most obsolete.

Clear glass accessories, once everywhere, got replaced by coloured ones.

Photo frames and paintings in metal were out.
