They demand stern action against the guilty. They also sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s resignation for the Union Government’s alleged failure to check “growing anti-Sikh activities” across the country.
They burnt effigies of Jharkhand and Haryana Chief Ministers Arjun Munda and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, respectively, outside the gurudwara in Gurubagh area. Besides Munda and Hooda, they raised slogans against Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia.
They said the history of the Sikh community was one of sacrifices. The Sikhs would never hesitate to make sacrifices to safeguard their religion, they said. “If we could sacrifice our lives during the freedom struggle, we can also lay down our lives to safeguard our religion,” said the demonstrators.
Satnam Singh Dhunna, Sardar Ajit Singh Bagga, Pratipal Singh Pali, Ram Singh Bagga, Ruvel Singh, Harpal Singh, Devender Singh Chaddha and Jasbir Singh were among those who staged the demonstration and demanded immediate action against those hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community.
