Sitting Sena-BJP MP Danve takes on Cong-NCP's Kale in Jalna

Sitting MP Raosaheb Danve of the Shiv Sena-BJP combine will take on Kalyan Kale of the Congress-NCP-RPI in neighbouring Jalna Lok Sabha constituency, where 19 other candidates are also in the fray.

A total of 14,25,200 voters, including 672763 women, are eligible to exercise their franchise in the constituency in Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

The constituency, where polling will be held on April 23, comprises six Assembly segments - Jalna, Badnapur, Sillod, Bhokardan, Phulambri and Paithan.

Of these, Paithan and Phulambri, located in Aurangabad district, have been included in Jalna Parliamentary constituencies after the delimitation exercise.

Partur Assembly segment in Jalna district has now become part of the Parbhani Lok Sabha constituency. The newly formed Ghanswangi Assembly seat in Jalna district has also been included in Parbhani.

The main fight is likely to be between Danve and Kale, both hailing from Maratha community. Kale is a sitting MLA. Besides Independents, candidates of Mayawati-led BSP, Kranti Sena and RPI Bahujan are also in the fray.
