"Vohra is acting more on the advice of the former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, NC patron Farooq Abdullah and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti to let loose a reign of terror through deployment of army, CRPF and RAF," former union minister Chaman Lal Gupta said.

In a statement, he condemned the "barbaric approach" to deal with the ongoing agitation.

Imposition of prolonged curfew, use of cane charge, police firing and bursting of teargas squibs against the demonstrators and gagging the media was unheard of in the region in the past, he said.

Gupta alleged that Azad, PCC chief Saifuddin Soz and NC and PDP leaders were instigating the governor to suppress the agitators.
