Six Deoria prison guards suspended
SIX GUARDS at Deoria District Jail were suspended in connection with the escape of hardcore criminal Deepak Singh alias Dipu from jail. Dipu is an accused in the murder of actress Manisha Koirala?s private secretary. He was also on the list of top ten criminals of Varanasi.
SIX GUARDS at Deoria District Jail were suspended in connection with the escape of hardcore criminal Deepak Singh alias Dipu from jail. Dipu is an accused in the murder of actress Manisha Koirala’s private secretary. He was also on the list of top ten criminals of Varanasi.
The Deoria district police lodged cases against five prison guards in this connection. Three teams were constituted to investigate their role and to arrest the accused.
The prison guards who were suspended were Amarjeet Singh, Kashi Ram Pandey, Dhananjaya Patel, Ramashanker Sonker and Swaminath Prasad.
Besides, the deputy inspector general (Prisons) suspended Indradev Yadav. Jailer Devnath Prasad said following directives of the DIG, the senior superintendent of Gorakhpur suspended six prison guards.
Jail authorities kept vigil on the activities of jail employees. It was revealed during interrogation that a nexus between jail employees and criminals paved the way for Dipu’s escape.
Dipu was said to be a close associate of mafia don Abu Salem and he was brought to Deoria district jail from Varanasi in March last year. He was involved in various cases of murder and loot.
According to sources, Dipu was present during the attendance call of prisoners at 7 am on Friday. Soon after, the duty of jail employees was changed. When the attendance call of prisoners was held again at around 9 am, Dipu was found missing. The jail employees searched all the barracks, but in vain. They informed the Deoria superintendent of police regarding the incident.
