Porcelain beauty Soha Ali Khan, who has zoomed up the popularity charts after her role in the hit youth flick, Rang De Basanti, is excited about sharing space with her mother, Sharmila Tagore, on the silver screen. Though she is game for hot scenes, she is against too much body exposure, just for the sake of exposing.

A chat with the pretty star, who was in Lucknow for an ad campaign.

What do you think about the sentence handed to Salman Khan in the black buck poaching case?
It is very sad and unfortunate. But I hope that the sentence would be cancelled in appeal.

Do you feel that you got weightage in the film industry just because you are the daughter of a renowned star, now also the chairperson of the Censor Board?
No I was never given any weightage just because I am Sharmila Tagore's daughter . But yes, being the daughter of a famous star does give you some advantages

Who is your role model?
My mother remains my role model and even if I achieve some bit of the success that she attained in her life, I would be quite satisfied.

Does your mother advise you in your career?
Yes. I always take her advice whenever I sign a film. She takes the final decision. I think mom can think better for me and better than me.

Do you also consult your brother Saif?
I do take his advice. But he is no match to mom.

You are going to do a film with your mom? How does it feel?
I am very very excited about sharing screen space with my mother on the silver screen. She will teach me a lot because she is an excellent actress.

In which film are you acting with mother?
I will be seen on screen with my mother in Aparna Sen’s Hindi venture Jewellery Box soon.

Are you not worried about comparisons with your mother?
No. Not at all. But I do agree that when members of the same family work in a film then critics do make comparisons. People have even compared my role in Rituparno Ghosh’s Antarmahal with my mother’s role in Satyajit Ray’s Devi because both of us played different roles but donned a traditional look with the bindi and sindoor.

What is your role in Jewellery Box?
I have a double role. I am a young girl , who goes through various stages and at an advanced stage the role is essayed by my mom (Sharmila Tagore). I then switchover to play the role of her grand daughter.

Why do you think your recent film, Shadi Number One, fail at the box office?
Comedy is a wonderful but a very tough thing. All scripts cannot be like Rang De Basanti, which beamed a bold message. I am also very upbeat about my role in Ahista, Ahista with Sunny Deol.

Coming to your personal choices, do you like western food or Indian food?
Bhartiya khana sab Se achha. I simply love Indian food. It is matchless. And Lucknow’s kebabs are simply too delicious.

Your beauty tips to young girls?
There are no secrets. Eat nutritious food. In order to remain young and beautiful one must go on a morning walk and exercise at least three times a week. Also take part in sports to make yourself trim and keep your breast and hips in shape. A woman is not a woman if men don’t watch her breasts and bums with admiration.
