Soldier kills Army Major in J&K's Rajouri

An Indian soldier shot dead an Army Major in Jammu and Kashmir's border district of Rajouri on Thursday.

An Indian soldier has shot dead a Major in Jammu and Kashmir's border district of Rajouri, but officials could not say what the provocation was.

Naik Ravi Kumar of 38 Rashtriya Rifles shot Major Harsh Kumar in Gambhir Muglian area on Wednesday night, said Farooq Khan, Rajouri's senior superintendent of police.

He said Ravi Kumar had been arrested. Both the police and the Army have registered a case. Although the provocation for the murder is not known. Similar killings have earlier been linked to refusal of leave.
