"Since he is the senior-most leader of the party and has held such a position previously, Chatterjee is most likely to be the pro tem speaker this time too," CPI (M) sources said.

The veteran Marxist Parliamentarian had been the pro tem speaker in the 13th Lok Sabha as he was the seniormost member of the House.

Chatterjee has been elected the tenth time to the Lower House. He was defeated the only time by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.

His name is also among the probables for the post of the Lok Sabha Speaker.
