Sunaram Mahli of Mosabini block in West Singhbhum district, around 230 km from here, also injured his seven-year-old daughter when she tried to rescue her grandmother, media reports said Sunday.

Mahli was reportedly drunk when he committed the crime Friday evening. Furious after being denied the money he was seeking, he hit his mother several times on her head with a bamboo stick killing her. Mahli has been arrested.
