
Sonia offered Tirupati prasadam
UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was presented with laddu prasadam and a silk cloth from the famous Lord Venkateswara temple during her 10 minute transit halt at Renigunta airport in Tirupati in route to Nellore.
The hill temple chief priest, Sri Ramana Dikshitulu, along with Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board Chairman B Karunakara Reddy handed over the prasadam to her.
Gandhi, accompanied by AICC general secretary and Andhra Pradesh state in-charge Veerappa Moily, arrived at Renigunta Airport by an IAF aircraft this afternoon.
She was en route to Nellore to commission Krishnapatnam port, stated to be India's largest private port and lay the foundation of a 1600 MW thermal power project.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy along with APCC president, D Srinivas also and accorded a warm welcome to her.
Several MLAs, MPs and other Congress leaders also met her at the airport.
Later Sonia Gandhi accompanied by Dr Reddy left for Nellore by an IAF helicopter.
