Yadav made these comments, as he campaigned in favour of party candidate Raj Kumar Chaudhary for the May-8 by-election here.

He denied that the State Government had in any way hindered development of Rae Bareli.

He claimed the real development of Rae Bareli had begun in the last two years since the formation of the SP Government in UP. He wondered why the constituency did not develop even after being represented by members of the Nehru-Gandhi family, some of whom had held the office of Prime Minister, over the years. Yadav was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Churwan boarder of the district.

During the campaign, he was accompanied by Chaudhary and Bachharawan SP MLA Ram Lal Akela.

Meanwhile, PWD Minister Shiv Pal Singh Yadav addressed public meetings at Ganj Baderwan, Rasoolpur, Vishwanathganj, Kharauli, Arakha and Umaran in Dal Mau assembly segment. He said the Congress had cheated people of Rae Bareli in the name of development. Party MP Beni Prasad Verma campaigned in the city area.
