Sonia to visit drought-hit areas in Rajasthan

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will make a two-day tour of Rajasthan from Monday to take stock of the famine and drought relief measures of the BJP government, the PCC chief said on Saturday.

The AICC chief would on Monday go to Jaisalmer from Delhi to take stock of the famine relief works and also interact with labourers in Moolsagar, Phamodhara, Kunkak and Sam camps in the district being run by the Vasundhara Raje government, Pradesh Congress Committee president BD Kalla said.

She would later inaugurate a four-day political training camp of the PCC at Padampura, 20 km from Jaipur where around 600 party workers and leaders from the 32 districts of the state would take part, he said.

AICC General Secretary in charge of Rajasthan Mukul Vasnik has arrived in Jaipur to oversee preparations for the programme, party sources said.

On Tuesday, Gandhi would inspect drought relief measures in four areas coming under Dudu Assembly constituency in the Jaipur district.
