"As per the inclination of voters, as per our analysis we will get 40 out 55 seats, which went for polls in the first phase today. And on the rest seats, SP is in direct fight," state SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said.

In a similar refrain, BJP MP from Lucknow Lalji Tandon exuded confidence that in a direct fight in 45 constituencies, his party would win at least 40.

Both the leaders said the higher voter turnout would help them get more seats.

"The way in which people came out to vote showed they wanted to oust corrupt BSP government," Yadav said and claimed that Congress and BJP were fighting for the third and fourth slots.
