Even as the SEC and the State Government machinery are gearing up for the election, cases of kidnapping, threat and allurement of voters have been reported in several districts.

Even as the SEC and the State Government machinery are gearing up for the election, cases of kidnapping, threat and allurement of voters have been reported in several districts.

As relatives of several state ministers are in the fray, the SEC, sensing trouble, has banned their movement in the districts. But, the ministers have already completed their job and their trusted lieutenants are in the field to complete their mission.

Again, the SP and the BSP candidates are neck and neck on majority of seats.

During ZP chairman election, though the BSP had sent the ZP members into hiding, the SP managed to capture maximum chairman posts. This time, the BSP has changed its tactics and directed its candidates to apply the trick of the rival to secure victory in the elections.

State Election Commissioner Aparmita Prasad Singh said all measures had been taken by the SEC to ensure free and fair elections. Singh said if a single candidate remainesd in the field and there were chances that he would be elected unopposed, the Returning Officer had been directed to inform the SEC before declaring the result.
