Talking to mediapersons here today, he said that the actual socialistic principals of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia were being neglected by the Samajwadi Party-led government in UP. The concept of real socialism had become ridiculous and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had moulded the principals of socialism to suit criminalisation of politics, he said, adding that the security of the nation was in danger.
Pandey was on his first visit to Varanasi after being appointed as the national secretary of AICC.
He said that the Congress had accepted the challenge and was ready to weed out the casteist and communal forces from the state.
“Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav knows that his party will not come to power after the next assembly elections. That is why he is allowing the communal and casteist forces to flourish in the state”, he said and added that the country could not progress without the development of Uttar Pradesh.
Pandey stressed that it was the need of the hour to ensure proper development of Uttar Pradesh which could be possible only when the Congress came to power in the state.
He added that some communal forces had damaged the Congress but now the time had come when the party would regain its past glory.
Awareness programme: Unity in diversity was the most significant feature of Indian cultural tradition. However, some anti-social elements were trying to undo that in the name of caste, religion and class. Therefore, such forces had to be done away with so they would not interfere in the country’s development.
This was stated by Ranjana Gaur of Social Action and Research Centre. Gaur was addressing a one-day ‘Woman/girl child: Traditional folk, art and cultural awareness programme’ at Purva Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Tikari area on Monday.
The Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, Social Science Faculty, Banaras Hindu University had organised the programme.
