The incidents took place last night. However, police termed the attack as "stray incident".
"It was just a stray incident as everything is normal here," SSP B D Polson said today.
He, however, said, "security has been beefed up at railway station, bus station, and Dwarkadheesh and Danghati temples in the city."
The activists shouting anti-MNS slogans gathered at platforms and allegedly assaulted residents of Maharashtra travelling by Delhi-bound Jhelum Express and Mumbai-bound Deluxe Express trains, before leaving the station.
A group of SP supporters also burnt the effigy of Raj Thackeray at Bhuteshwar in the city.
