According to pagesix.com, suspicions were raised when Spin writer Chuck Klosterman wrote the review and said: "Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses lead singer) has also retained his pathological distaste for the media, lyrically attacking the editors of Vanity Fair, MTV personality Sway, numerous teenage bloggers, and the City Hall reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer (who, curiously, has never written about pop music)."

Klosterman also added that The Clash front man Joe Strummer played guitar on a song called Janky Holocaust just two weeks before he died in 2002 and was reported as a fact by a few websites.

Spin spokesperson said: "We just wanted to see how long it would take for the blogs to figure it out."
